DIPUPO OSANYIN: TOMIWA: MY IMAGINARY GIRLFRIEND
(PART 2)

I was already 18, I had also become an expert driver and the next on the agenda was to get a girlfriend just as we planned (my brother and I). Getting a pretty damsel shouldn’t be an issue, my brother teased. And to be honest, it wasn’t. I had all the pretty ladies around me, I felt so much loved but that wasn’t just enough because none of the ladies was named Tomiwa.
The more I tried getting the name Tomiwa off my mind, the more engrossed I became in the whole saga. It was at that moment I stood up to the challenge. That crazy little voice in my head wasn’t helping either, it just kept telling me: “This is a challenge from God”, and naïve me fell for it. The search for Tomiwa finally began. After about two weeks of ‘hunting’ and still couldn’t get any lady named Tomiwa, I became frustrated, tired and I was gradually losing interest. It was apparent all the girls in my neighborhood were either named Tolani or Mojeedat because I met a whole lot of them, Mojeedat most especially. I was on the verge of pulling out of the race and renouncing my infatuation for my imaginary girlfriend when my brother hinted me about the “internet magic”. What have I been thinking? I should have surfed the web since and am sure my own “Special T’ would have found me one way or the other. The options were just too much: Fcaebook, Twitter, Badoo, 2go, Eskimi and the list was just unending. Which of these social Medias should I explore first? The question remained unanswered till I slept off.
